It's hallowed grounds for American and Japanese military forces since it was the site of one of the deadliest Pacific land battles during WWII. It's also the location of Joe Rosenthal's iconic photo in which 5 Marines and 1 Navy corpsman raised the American flag on top of Mt. Suribachi. Definitely a site for reverence and solemnity.
